Let’s quickly review Google Search Console and how it benefits your site:

Provided by the search engine giant, Google Search Console gives you an insider’s look into how your website is performing in Google’s search results. With Google Search Console, you gain valuable insights into your website’s rankings, technical issues, and overall performance.

So, if you’re not already using Google Search Console, it’s time to join the millions of website owners who are reaping the benefits of this game-changing tool.

Let’s explore the benefits in detail:

Adding your website to Google Search Console gives you a better chance of ranking higher in Search Engine Results Pages (SERPs). Plus, you’ll have access to valuable insights into your website’s technical issues, including broken links, crawl errors, and more.
You can also monitor your website’s performance and see the top keywords that are driving traffic to your site. This allows you to work on any issues impacting your search ranking and overall user experience.
Now that you understand the benefits of Google Search Console and why it’s important for your WordPress website, it’s time to create your account.

Here’s what you need to do:

Head over to the Google Search Console website and click on the “Start Now” button. If you already have a Google account, you’re all set. If not, don’t worry, you can create one in just a few clicks.

Next, it’s time to verify your ownership of your WordPress website. You need to verify ownership to access private Google Search Console data. There are different ways to verify site ownership, but here is the quick and easy method via DNS Record:

Sign in to Google Search Console with your Google account.

  • Click on the “Add property” button.
  • Select the “domain” option.

  • Enter your domain name and click “Continue.”

  • Copy the TXT record generated by Google.

  • Next, log in to your domain name provider’s dashboard. (This guide uses Bluehost as an example).

  • Go to “Domains,” click on “My Domains,” and select the website, then click the dropdown option.

  • Click on “Manage” from the dropdown menu and select “DNS.”

  • Access your DNS manager where DNS records are stored and configured.

  • Scroll down to the TXT section and click “Add Record.”

  • Enter the “@” symbol in the “Host Record” field.

  • Under the “TXT Value,” paste the TXT record that you copied from Google Search Console.

  • Make the TTL value at 4 hours and click on the “Save” button.

  • Return to the Google Search Console website and click on “Verify.”

Once you have completed these steps, Google Search Console will confirm your ownership of your WordPress website(Sometimes it’ll take some time).

Once you’ve verified ownership, you’ll be on your way to using the full potential of Google Search Console.
